I am so happy it is now very fashionable to leave your lawn grow long and let it turn into a meadow. It may be “wild-life friendly” but it is very human friendly too. Particularly human-with-ME friendly.
Apparently establishing a meadow is meant to be difficult and requires all sorts of tricks you are meant to do. But as if by miracle, by doing nothing, my lawn has turned into a beatiful wild flower meadow just by itself.
To be honest, even if I had all the energy and stamina in the world, I’d prefer the natural look to a neatly mowed English lawn. The long grasses make lovely undulating patterns across the garden and there are lots of bees and butterflies. It’s definitely a win-win!
